Conductor Marjan Grdadolnik has graduated from clarinet and conducting at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. For his conducting achievements, he was presented him with the Students’ Prešeren’s Prize. In his hometown of Logatec, he has founded and leads the Cantabile Symphony Orchestra and the Adoramus Mixed Choir. At the Logatec Music School, he teaches clarinet and chamber performance. He is also active as a composer and is an organist at the homely parish of St. Nicholas. Gostoval je v Rimu, Bukarešti, Pragi, Barceloni, Dunaju, Zurichu itd. He has toured to Rome, Bucarest, Prague, Barcelona, Vienna, Zürich etc. In the past, he has successfuly collaborated with the National RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Armed Forces Wind Band, Swiss Orchestra Giovane, European Doctors Orchestra EDO, Budapest Philharmonic and many others. He is the recipient of Gerbič’s Award, awarded by Slovenian Music Schools Association for exceptional achievements in the field of music edication.
The CANTABILE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA’s first public performance took place in the spring of 2011. The orchestra’s foundation was encouraged by professor Marjan Grdadolnik and its founding members. After almost a decade, the orchestra gained reputation at home and abroad and is enthusiastically forming new programmes. The orchestra has frequently enjoyed accompanying both top-notch artists and young, perspective musicians. In 2021, the orchestra celebrates its 10th anniversary and has in that time played at more than 115 concerts at home and abroad. It has toured to France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland and has provided solistic opportunities to more than 70 young and talented musicians. The orchestra has collaborated with numerous ensembles and other musical performers, held concerts in 35 different cities in Slovenia and played several premieres of the pieces, composed specifically for the orchestra. Invitations for both domestic and international collaborations and concerts keep appearing regularly.
The ADORAMUS MIXED CHOIR was founded in 1987 on an intiative of its choirmaster Marjan Grdadolnik. The choir regularly participates at worship Zbor redno sodeluje pri bogoslužju at the homely parish of St. Nicholas in Logatec and visits various festivals and competitions at home and abroad; it is regularly awarded gold medals and prizes. The choir also regularly collaborates in vocal-instrumental projects with the Cantabile Symphony Orchestra. In November 2019, the choir has toured to Vienna where it sang in the famous St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
My music has also been poured into several compositions which I have written for different occasions.
